Renee Paquette Says WWE Treats Fans Like They're "Stupid"

The former Renee Young puts AEW over for its storytelling, but can't say the same for WWE.

Renee Paquette thinks that WWE's current approach to storytelling talks to people "like they don't know how sh*t works".

The former WWE host, commentator and backstage interviewer told listeners of her 'Oral Sessions' podcast that AEW does a much better job of booking a "long game" that doesn't "treat their fans as stupid" or "beat you over the head" with obviousness.

Renee did say that she understands why WWE chooses the approach they do, because they target a more casual market than Tony Khan's promotion. At the same time though, she believes the company could be a little more subtle about it and push a "sense of discovery" rather than beating people over the head with relentless recaps and handholding techniques.

AEW's "deep roots" appeal more to Paquette - she likes being able to do some thinking on her own without being spoon-fed plot points. Again though, that's just WWE's style. They paint in broad strokes, and they always have done.

Renee would prefer a more "layered and intricate" way of weaving stories. The good news is that she gets that fix from watching AEW's Dynamite.
