Amidst the victory celebration, a visibly bewildered Hogan reflects on how Savage stole the deciding fall out from under him. Before he has the opportunity to confront his tag partner, however, the ring is stormed by all five of their vanquished opponents, Ted DiBiase and André The Giant in an act of retaliation. This surge prompts the likes of Steamboat, The Ultimate Warrior, Brutus Beefcake, Jim Duggan and Jake Roberts from the locker room. Within moments, the entire roster pours out of the back and the ringside area is engulfed in an area-wide melee.

As an army of referees and backstage officials attempt to regain control of the asylum, a live-feed camera cuts to the office of WWF President Jack Tunney, who hands down an edict in light of the chaos declaring that the World Wrestling Federation Championship will be contested in and awarded to the winner of the 1989 Royal Rumble match in seven weeks' time.

The anticipation is tangible, particularly among those in attendance and the multitudes at ringside. The PPV draws to a close with Savage and Hogan staring each other down. The pair exchange glances at the WWF Championship currently resting on Miss Elizabeth's shoulder as she tries to make cooler heads prevail.
