The United Kingdom's once-iconic World Of Sport Wrestling brand could be on the verge of a return.

Inside The Ropes' James Holder reports that the group behind WOS is planning a relaunch, having already reached out to Nick Aldis and Mickie James about potentially being involved. This comes as Aldis appears to be on the verge of a split from the NWA, his home of five years, and James is working an IMPACT Wrestling storyline that will see her depart upon her next defeat.

As things stand, Aldis will become a free agent when his NWA contract expires in January. Although James has been working for IMPACT since October, she is not believed to be bound to a full-time deal

Per Inside The Ropes, World Of Sport, which last aired on UK television in 2018, has several ideas for the reboot. One would involve taking a similar approach to the NWA, meaning WOS would run low-cost, studio-based tapings and broadcast them on a free-to-air platform, while also holding live events.

ITV's World Of Sport show hosted a popular wrestling segment between 1965 and 1985, helping launch the careers of such stars as Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks in the United Kingdom. November 2016 saw the brand revived for a one-off show in Manchester. Two years later, WOS ran a single season of programming on ITV featuring the likes of Davey Boy Smith Jr., Joe Hendry, Kip Sabian, and Kay Lee Ray, before returning for a short series of live events in 2019.

Held on 3 February 2019, WOS' last show was headlined by WOS Champion Justin Sysum against Rampage Brown.
