Lars Sullivan's eight-year WWE tenure came to an end yesterday, as the promotion quietly let the SmackDown wrestler go without as much as a "future endeavours" message.

Fightful Select has since released a report offering a bunch of new information on Sullivan, who was apparently set for a colossal push upon joining the main roster in 2019, only for WWE to dial back on this when his history of vile, bigoted message board posts re-emerged that May.

Said push would have involved major matches with WWE legends John Cena and Brock Lesnar, with one going down at this year's WrestleMania. Sullivan ended up eating a $100,000 fine instead of wrestling two surefire Hall-of-Famers.

What derailed Sullivan the most, however, was the serious knee injury that kept him sidelined for over a year from June 2019 to October 2020. Lars was out for far longer than the six-to-nine months WWE had originally expected. At one point, it looked like the issue may even be career-threatening, though he was eventually brought back.

On top of all this, Vince McMahon saw the unearthing of Sullivan's pornographic film in December 2019 as the final straw.

October 2020 saw Sullivan hit with allegations of harassment evidenced by screenshots. WWE declined to release a statement on the matter at the time.
