Rey Mysterio's WWE Tag Team Partners - From Worst To Best
6. Batista
Another big man/little man team, Mysterio and Batista were teamed up in the wake of the death of their real-life close friend Eddie Guerrero. Rey and Eddie were former WWE Tag Team Champions while The Animal and Latino Heat had recently began an on-screen partnership of their own. Their connection to the late former WWE Champion wasn't the only reason they were paired, mind.
Big Dave was working with a lat muscle tear in his back and so WWE put him with Rey Rey as a way of lightening his workload. They won the WWE Tag Team titles in a match against MNM on Smackdown but dropped them back to the wannabe Hollywood socialites a fortnight later. Their other most notable match was their loss to Raw's World Tag Team Champions Kane & The Big Show at Armageddon.
They failed to win the straps back from Mercury and Nitro in a cage match in early 2006 and then, days later, Batista suffered another, more serious injury during a house show match with Mark Henry. It would sideline him for around six months, putting an end to the team. Batista and Rey would team up again in later years, but it was never a permanent arrangement.
It's hard to judge their matches as a team, since Batista was so limited due to his injury at the time, but they were over and they won the Tag Team titles, so they place above Mysterio's tandem with Show.
