Ric Flair's 10 Greatest WWE Matches

This is a match better remembered for its historical impact than its in-ring quality - it’s Hart’s first World title win, ushering in an entirely new era for WWE. But even without that heft, this is a great encounter between two of the greatest ever wrestlers with contrasting but complementary styles.

At this stage in the pair’s careers, it would be more surprising were this not at least a decent match. Performing in Saskatchewan, Hart had the home nation advantage, and accordingly the crowd. Flair as ever relishes the villain’s part, and dominates the early stages of the match with little of his usual showboating - it’s just a beatdown, ruthless and efficient.

Hart rallies, of course, and Flair puts him over like a hero, writhing away from the oncoming Hitman and begging off as Hart’s offence picks up. This was Flair’s second and final World title in WWE, and while this run lacked the heights of the first (which we’ll get onto), he is of course a natural fit for the top of the card.

He’s not at the very peak of his career here, but he oozes confidence, and makes anyone who steps in the ring with him look fantastic.
