RoH Champion Says He Turned Down TNA

Michael Elgin spurned TNA's overtures.

Michael Elgin Roh TNA may have the national exposure (for now) that many wrestlers desire, but Ring of Honor world champion Michael Elgin seems just fine where he is. Elgin said that TNA expressed interest in him, but he didn't feel as if the move was right for his immediate future. Elgin spoke about RoH, TNA, as well as Spike TV and his future in wrestling with Between the Ropes this week, as he was promoting RoH's upcoming "Death Before Dishonor 12" show on August 24 in Illinois. Elgin said that TNA actually reached out to him in June, shortly before he won the RoH world title at Best in the World. Regarding the situation, Elgin said that his heart was with RoH, something TNA couldn't replicate. Elgin has worked as a main roster member of RoH since 2010. "I was kind of reached to. But, ultimately I have no interest (in TNA)," Elgin said. "I felt that I still had things I wanted to accomplish with Ring of Honor, and that's where my heart was. If I had thought about going anywhere else, went anywhere else, I still think I would have felt like I have some unfinished business there, so I definitely didn't want to even think about it. As I said, I was kind of reached out to. It was brought up that there was some interest, but I wanted to keep moving forward with ROH," Elgin said on Between the Ropes. Both WWE and TNA have scoured the independent scene and RoH in recent years, but notably of late. Between the two companies Prince Devitt, KENTA, Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards and Kevin Steen have all been picked up. 13 of RoH's 19 world champions have went on to later sign TNA or WWE contracts, but as of now Elgin appears more than content with Ring of Honor.
