ROH Final Battle 2022: 10 Things That Must Happen
6. Athena Bags Some Gold
Athena's new heel character is working for her. She's kicking lumps out of anybody she feels like, and has way more swagger than she ever did as an ex-WWE babyface who was coming in to knock Jade Cargill down a peg or two. It's been a fun change, and Athena should be rewarded for making the most of it.
Rewarded with that ROH Women's Title.
This is going to sound incredibly harsh, but yeah. Here goes: Mercedes Martinez as champ isn't cutting it. Sure, it's lovely that she got some time with the belt, but TK needs to put that strap on someone who's featured on telly every single week before people forget it exists.
Athena is the right choice. She simply cannot lose due to this ongoing character shift, and she's a way more engaging personality than Mercedes anyway. It's time for AEW's power base to right some wrongs from the first leg of Athena's run in the promotion.
