Roman Reigns broke character during WWE's recent house show in Boston.

The current Universal Champion teamed with The Usos to defeat Big E and The Viking Raiders in six-man tag action, then grabbed the microphone post-match. Not many fans inside the TD Garden could've predicted what would happen next.

Roman shed his "acknowledge me" routine in favour of thanking everybody in attendance for coming to check out some live WWE fare. He then went on to ask that everybody "stay safe" and "protect yourselves" so they could return for more later in the year.

This classy gesture was followed by another thank you from SmackDown's 'Tribal Chief'.

There is video of the ad-libbed promo online. Twitter account @luchalibreonlin shared footage of the 30-second post-match promo. It's well-worth a quick watch to see Reigns humbly showing appreciation for the fanbase.

Some people replied to say they don't think Roman should be breaking character on official WWE events. However, the Universal Champion obviously felt like this was the right call - he wanted to make sure that every person in attendance left knowing how grateful he was that they purchased a ticket.
