Roman Reigns Hits MAJOR Landmark As Undisputed WWE Universal Champion
Another big-time accolade for SmackDown's leading man.
As of today, Roman Reigns has been a top champion in WWE for exactly 600 days.
Reigning as the Universal Champion since 30 August 2020, when he dethroned Bray Wyatt in a Triple Threat also featuring Braun Strowman, Roman added the WWE Title to his collection at WrestleMania 38. Felling Brock Lesnar on the event's second night (3 April 2022) saw him unify the promotion's top two prizes as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
The run puts Reigns in elite company. As recognised by WWE itself, only Bruno Sammartino (2,803 and 1,237 days), Bob Backlund (2,135), Hulk Hogan (1,474), and Pedro Morales (1,027) have enjoyed longer single runs with a world title in the company. That each of those runs happened in a bygone era where years-long stretches on top were the norm means their benchmarks may never be broken, though this only emphasises how much WWE has invested in Reigns.
Taking all of his runs as WWE, Universal, and World Heavyweight Champion into account, Reigns has currently spent 782 days as a top champion during his run with the company.
WWE is yet to formally acknowledge Roman's landmark, though they surely will in time.
