Ronda Rousey's WWE Return: 10 Matches We Must See

The Baddest Woman on The Planet? Here are ten superstars who might have something to say about that.

Ronda Rousey made a triumphant return to WWE this weekend. Her Royal Rumble victory was made all the more thrilling because for a long time, we didn’t know if “The Baddest Woman On The Planet” would return at all.

Ronda had one of the all time great rookie years from her arrival at the 2018 Royal Rumble to her WrestleMania headline lot alongside Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. She became perhaps the most dominant champion in WWE women’s roster history.

Sadly that was only one side of the story. A portion of the fanbase started to turn on Ronda during her initial run, “The Rowdy One,” seemingly unable to hide how affected she was by booing crowds. For her part, Ronda starting making saying things in interviews that seemed to purposely troll pro wrestling fans.

Add to that her clear desire to start a family and there was a strong possibly Rousey would extend her “impregnation vacation” indefinitely to focus on motherhood. That would be an entirely justifiable decision but a sad one for those of us longing to hear Bad Reputation blasting from arena speakers.

Thankfully, now she’s actually made the big comeback and reports suggest she’ll be feuding with Charlotte Flair going forward. If their last singles encounter is anything to go by this should be great but hopefully the rivalry isn’t dragged out across too many “premium live events”. There are too many tantalising other options on offer.

10. Stephanie McMahon

Though your writer would normally prefer to say Candyman three times into a mirror than call for the return of a tired WWE on-screen authority figure, this is the one exception.

Rousey was a star and a natural in her debut match at WrestleMania 34 and McMahon, seldom singled out for praise, deserves extra credit for her part in that match. It was a career best performance as McMahon, after patronising the newcomer in the build, suddenly realised when the bell rang just what she was up against. She cowered and sold and generally made Ronda look like a beast.

Of course “The Billion Dollar Princess” has had a few years to forget about her ordeal. Maybe she’s feeling brave and holding a grudge? McMahon has spent a couple of decades cutting WWE’s top male stars down to size and rarely getting her comeuppance.

With Ronda we can enjoy the prospect of Stephanie filled with regret, convinced she’s about to have her arm snapped off. If it’s a straight singles match then this time Triple H won’t be waiting on the apron for her to run away and tag out.
