Sami Zayn Reveals Original WWE Plans For His Bloodline Storyline

WWE almost did something pretty different with Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns.

Sami Zayn wasn't supposed to join The Bloodline and become an "Honorary Uce".

The entertaining heel told Die Woche that WWE's original booking called for him to take on the role as a self-appointed "locker room leader" who'd go on to interact with Roman Reigns, The Usos and Paul Heyman. That grew arms and legs in creative meetings, so much so that company writers just decided to stick him in the group as a temporary member.

Sami is grateful for that, because he's having a ton of fun on TV right now. It hasn't escaped his attention that fans in arenas all over the US have started cheering for him during Bloodline segments too - a spin-off babyface turn could be in the works then.

WWE initially fancied casting Zayn as a senior member of the roster who'd start "checking in" with Roman during semi-regular backstage skits. Both characters would've used one another to get business done in storyline, but then someone popped up a hand and said they should just put Zayn in the stable and see what happened.

TV gold, that's what happened.
