Shawn Michaels' 10 Best Matches Ever

5. Vs. Triple H, Chris Benoit (WrestleMania 20)

If there were a Hall of Fame solely for blade jobs, Michaels' gusher at WrestleMania 20 should get in on the first ballot. It didn't take long for Michaels's blood to spill from his forehead to his torso, with the speed of a pyroclastic flow. Michaels has bled buckets before, but this was enough to make even Eli Roth squirm.

That particular bloodletting is lost to the now-depressing ending, in which Benoit finally reaches the apex and becomes World Heavyweight Champion. For the smarter Garden crowd, no other ending would have been acceptable. Michaels, for his part, gets booed whenever he takes the offense, and at times feels like an intruder, usurping the spotlight meant for Benoit. Of course, that was also to raise further doubt on the Canadian underdog's chances at winning.

Michaels' efforts in the match go a long way toward its presently-muted greatness. Without him, Benoit and Helmsley, gifted as they are, don't have quite the same match. It's probably the greatest triple threat match ever, so naturally, Michaels had a hand in its success.
