So THIS Is How The New Day Debut In AEW... (AEW News)

Could last night's AEW Dynamite have sowed the seeds for the arrival of the New Day? Maybe...

Prior to Dynamite, Fightful Select reported that Swerve Strickland was due to make his AEW return "imminently", possibly as soon as that Dynamite. Likewise, the outlet also noted that the former Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are "expected" to join the company, though sources wouldn't outright confirm that.

For those who watched Dynamite, Swerve did indeed make his return last night, and he now seemingly needs to find himself a couple of partners, leading to plentiful speculation that this is how the New Day will debut in AEW.

Last night saw Swerve return for the first time since losing to Will Ospreay in the Owen Hart Cup final at Forbidden Door back in June, and that return had the one-time AEW World Champion confront the current AEW Trios Champions, Adam Page, Brody King, and Bandido. Not just that, but this segment also saw Strickland in the crosshairs of the Demand and the Lethal Twist. Basically, Swerve has found himself in the trios picture, but without any partners.

Hot on the heels of the Motor City Machine Guns landing in AEW, recent reports indicate that the New Day signing with AEW is a "foregone conclusion". Obviously, the tandem will need a new team name, though individually they're known as Austin Creed and simply Kofi from here on out. And if last night's Dynamite is going where many fans think it's going, it could well be that Austin and Kofi find themselves tagging with Swerve Strickland at Wembley Stadium for All In later this month.

As for their current status, the New Day were believed to have become free agents in the first week of August, and the team recently posted a phenomenal "Daybreak" teaser ahead of hitting free agency.
