Sting: 5 Awesome Matches And 5 That Sucked

2. Sting vs. Vampiro - Human Torch Match (Great American Bash 2000)

My what a difference 11 years makes. From the classic Great American Bash of 1989 to the...decidedly unclassic Bash of 2000. Of all the silly matches and moments in WCW's history, this one is near the top. Vampiro and Sting battled each other in a Human Torch match, with the object being the winner has to light his opponent on fire. Judging by this list, in WCW it wasn't good enough to just beat the other guy, you had to attempt to murder him in some form or fashion. The majority of the match is just there, but when it goes off the rails is when the two men ascend the structure around the jumbotron, fighting back and forth for an advantage. Somehow an indoor thunderstorm breaks out, with flashes of lightning interrupting the constant plunges into darkness. This gave Sting enough time to duck out of sight and be replaced by a stunt double, who was then set on fire and promptly fell to his doom. The whole thing looked like something out of a Six Flags stunt show and came off more hokey than entertaining. It's a shame Sting was being subjected to such nonsense at this point in his career.
