Ultimately, Sting is one of pro-wrestling's greatest historical figures owing to his involvement in the timing of the initial wrestling boom. It was always inevitable he was recognised for this in the WWE Hall of Fame at some point. Sting and WWE have probably figured they may as well get a final run out of the character in the process. It will lack the buzz it would have had in days gone by, but this is still going to be a big deal, it will still be a marquee name which draws. Whether Sting still has it as a performer remains to be seen, but as the saying goes, class is permanent. The rumoured debut has ended up a protracted deal, with insiders stuck in mis-information over it for months now. However, with WreslteMania 30 passing, it seems likelier than ever that we finally see resolution to the rumours very soon. Sting's story logically should start in the new season of WWE which begins the night after Mania. The part time deal may only run for a year and the one match with Undertaker, but it will most likely be a worthy investment. Old fans may see it as a shame to see Sting re-marketed in the WWE brand, but from a business standpoint, both Sting and WWE can make a lot of money from new DVD and merchandise deals. Following a year of money making, he will probably retire for good, enjoying one last hurrah on the big stage of WrestleMania 31.
