10. Will WWE Fans Accept Him Or Even Know Who He Is?
While the internet wrestling community are read up and in many cases old enough to remember Sting's peak years, bear in mind that the WWE is also in many respects a young persons TV show. Many of today's WWE fans weren't even alive when Sting last wrestled a major match in WCW. A sixteen year old fan for example is going to have zero memory of Nitro and many fans simply don't watch TNA or read internet sites. Take a look at WWE crowds, they're packed with kids, look at the merchandise sales for John Cena as proof of that. WWE's mainstream audience isn't concerned with knowing what happened 20 years ago in WCW. One worry is people simply won't know who Sting is. He could find the awkward reaction of silence if he returns in front of a non-smart wrestling city. Even Hulk Hogan's recent reactions while still loud are nowhere near what they were ten years ago. As for the fans who are aware of who Sting is, will they actually accept him? Just take a look at some of the reactions Goldberg got back in 2003-2004, former WCW stars don't always play well in places like New York and other northern cities. Still, you would expect a warm and respectful reception for Sting when he does appear, it won't be anything as loud as some big names, but he should be ok.
