Following on from the news that Sting will be making his ‘in-ring’ debut for AEW at next month’s Revolution PPV, now comes an update confirming what many of us had suspected.

Said debut will see the Stinger teaming with TNT Champion Darby Allin to face the Team Taz duo of Ricky Starks and Brian Cage in a Street Fight. As per the Wrestling Observer, the belief is that, yes, this battle will indeed be a cinematic match.

Given how Sting had officially retired back in 2016 following serious neck issues and spinal stenosis, many had hoped that any AEW matches for the WCW icon would be done in a cinematic way that would allow the 61-year-old to be protected.

Many had hoped that the cinematic approach would’ve been utilised to finally give fans that long dreamed of bout between the Undertaker and Sting, but that sadly never came to be. Now though, fans do get to at least see Sting back in action – and one would have to think that there may be more to come for the multiple-time World Champion than just this solitary Street Fight contest.

Taking place on 27 February, the only other confirmed match for AEW Revolution at this stage is the Young Bucks defending the AEW Tag Team Championships against the winners of the upcoming tag team Battle Royal match.
