Stone Cold Steve Austin's 10 Best Matches Ever

2. Steve Austin vs. Triple H (No Way Out 2001)

Steve Austin came back from neck surgery in late 2000 on a mission to find the man who had run him over in a parking lot in late 1999 (the storyline explanation for his long absence). It was eventually revealed that Triple H, arguably the best wrestler in the company at this point in his career, was behind the attack. The stage was set for a memorable rivalry that would culminate with a two out of three falls match at No Way Out 2001 in Las Vegas. The match was dubbed "Three Stages Of Hell" and would feature a regular singles match, a street fight match, and, if necessary, a cage match to decide the third fall. Of course, as two out of three falls matches always do, this thing went to a third fall. In what turned out to be the greatest match of Triple H's career, and nearly the greatest match of Austin's career as well, the two men went back and forth for 40 minutes in what the Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter hailed as the match of the year for 2001. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x13m81c_stone-cold-vs-triple-h-no-way-out-2001_sport After splitting the first two falls (Austin won the singles match, Triple H won the street fight), the cage match came to a memorable conclusion with Austin hitting Triple H with a 2x4 wrapped in barbed wire at the same time Triple H struck Austin with his trademark sledgehammer. Both men fell to the ground, with Triple H falling on top of Austin to get the victory.
