Style With Substance: The Beauty & Brilliance Of WWE WrestleMania Attire

On a night Michaels and Rocker partner Marty Jannetty lost to The Twin Towers, Rick Rude celebrated leaving WrestleMania 5 with the Intercontinental Title around his waist by entering WrestleMania 5 with the Intercontinental Title around his waist. Exhibiting audacious confidence perfectly in keeping with his 'Ravishing' veneer, Rude's arrogance was matched only by his obnoxiousness - he adorned his own a*se with Ultimate Warrior's face. Trying to rattle the already-insane brain of the Warrior like this was exactly the sort of shortcut a sh*thead like Rude would take. The tights were another act of sublime character detail.

A current storyline is just one of the ways to make the most of the 'Grandest Stage' with gear. Performers have often favoured WrestleMania as an ideal time for an always-pleasing palette swap. The unexpected feast for the eyes acting as an accoutrement to the main course of a mega match even when the decision draws derision. Triple H's white boots at WrestleMania 20 were as hounded as the never-ending title reign that preceded the show itself, but few forgot the selection.

Over a decade later, 'The King Of Kings' was slayed by his former protegé Seth Rollins. 'The Architect' had evolved, with the embryonic stages of his 'Burn It Down' motif majestically reflected in his fiery gold effort. He'd relied on Hunter to win titles previously - this time any gold adorning his sculpted frame would be of his own doing.

Rollins is a modern favourite when it comes to making extra effort for big shows, as too is his WrestleMania 34 foe Finn Bálor. Neglecting to overuse 'The Demon' on the main roster, Finn has instead expanded his aesthetic with some utterly magnificent colour schemes of late. Backstage reports suggested that Vince McMahon had soured on Bálor's main event credentials, but a man with his taste in suits surely won't have looked past the gorgeous grey, blue, red, white and green variations of his attire. A middling triple threat with The Miz may be a disappointment for both considering what might have been for them this year, but how they'll style themselves on the 'Show Of Shows' will legitimately be one of the biggest curiosities around the match.
