Text Messages Between CM Punk And WWE Revealed During Court Battle
"OMG" "WTF?" "LOL!"
Numerous text messages between CM Punk and WWE medical staff have been revealed in the ongoing court case with 'Straight Edge Superstar' and Colt Cabana against WWE doctor Chris Amann. The communication between the two sides took place in the months leading up to Punk's eventual departure from the company in January 2014.
According to a report from WrestleZone's Nick Hausman, Punk claimed to be suffering from severe headaches and fatigue, and said that he wanted to go to a hospital for medical help. These statements were followed by Dr Amann's lawyers blaming those recurring problems on Punk's performance in the 2014 Royal Rumble match. Amann requested that Punk leave the ring after allegedly believing him to suffer a concussion after taking a clothesline from Kofi Kingston.
Throughout these few months of conversation, Punk apparently also referred to several other issues relating to his health, including periods of nausea, diarrhoea, and vomiting, yet he was still medically cleared to compete. Emails between Amann and Punk show that the latter had been complaining about having a cyst, as well as a bulge on his back, although photos taken are alleged to prove otherwise.
The court case stems from comments made by Punk and Cabana on Cabana's 'Art Of Wrestling' podcast. Dr Amann took exception to a number of (what he referred to as) false depictions of himself, and as a result sued the pair for an approximate amount of $1 million. The case was originally scheduled for a start date of Tuesday 22 May, but was delayed due to a settlement being discussed between both sides.
The trial comes just over a week before CM Punk is set to step back into the Octagon against Mike Jackson at UFC225 on 9 June.
