Although you may not believe it watching them now, The Ascension, the team consisting of Konnor and Viktor, were one of the most dominating twosomes that NXT had ever seen. For a while they had cool contacts, but even when they stopped wearing those, they had a badass entrance and solid matches to back them up. At the time, NXT's tag team division was rather limited, so WWE called up The Ascension before they grew too stale. And then...did nothing with them. They had a decent start on Raw, but before too long they were being used as fodder to put over old legends who don't even wrestle anymore. Just when The Ascension seemed doomed to the same fate as poor Fandango, they were rescued by Stardust. Now called the Cosmic Wasteland, they're little more than side characters to Stardust's superhero-inspired, Goldust-like meanderings, but hey, at least they've got TV time. Plus, in an odd way, the members of the Cosmic Wasteland all sort of fit together well. While it's always tough for trios to succeed in the tag team division (with the rare exception of New Day, and more on them soon), if Stardust took on a more managerial role ala the Jackal with the Truth Commission, there could be hope for the Cosmic Wasteland yet.
