Personally, this writer, as do the majority of fans, loves Chris Jericho. From his early days wearing a ponytail atop his head with a tacky silver jacket to the times of the much-less-tacky light-up jacket, Jericho has done (and wore) it all. His forays into acting and rock music have been very successful, but he's always being called back to the squared circle. In recent years, he's not thinking about himself. As mentioned, he's done it all. Instead, he returns for a month or two, wrestles a handful of matches, and puts another Superstar over. Then he vanishes, tours with Fozzy, does some podcasts, and comes back. That's pretty much as selfless as you can get in a business like pro wrestling, but that's not the issue. No, the problem is that WWE is using Jericho more like a novelty act lately in a dire attempt to increase its sagging ratings. Jericho versus Kevin Owens is a very cool match indeed, as is Jericho versus Neville, but without a bit of back-story and setup, it's hard to get into battles like these properly. Is Jericho an automatic face because of his infrequent appearances? Is he a heel? Just who do we root for when he fights Neville? If WWE uses Jericho as an actual character again, like his feud against CM Punk, then he's worth keeping around. After all, he's one of the only wrestlers left who's just as entertaining on the mic as he is in the ring.
