The Deceased Dozen Of The 1990 Royal Rumble

5. Randy Savage (15 November 1952 – 20 May 2011)

Ultimate Warrior Rumble 90
WWE

Savage was at his dynamic best in the 1990 Royal Rumble, speeding into the match as entrant #5 and aiding fellow heel Ted DiBiase overcome heated rival Jake 'The Snake' Roberts.

A good case of a star that knew how to maximise his minutes, it was not destined to be a banner night for the former WWE Champion, but Savage was an expert in standing out from the crowd.

Decked out in turquoise and gold attire, the 'Macho King' was typically resplendent, darting about the ring with his usual frantic energy and even rattling off several of his trademark axe-handles from the top rope, despite the obvious risk with over-the-top-rope elimination rules.

Lasting ten minutes in total, Randy was eliminated by 'The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes, triggering a TV and house show feud that would last for the bulk of 1990.
