With the talent assembled here, there was no way this wasn’t going to be good. Hart, Anvil, Anderson and Blanchard work a masterclass of tag team wrestling, a perfectly paced clash that brings out the best in everyone.

The Brain Busters are the champions (though the belts aren’t on the line), but it’s the Hart Foundation that are made to look the strongest. They dominate large stretches of the match, cleverly isolating their opponent, with Hart’s technique and Neidhart’s brute strength making for a killer combo.

For all their superiority, though, it’s the team of Anderson and Tully that proves why they’re one of the greatest of all time. Alongside manager Bobby Heenan (who makes simply every match that little bit better), they contrive to steal the win, the Brain distracting the referee while Anderson inserts himself into the match to clobber and pin Bret.

The match does the business in continuing the ascension of Bret Hart, but all four men come off looking superb here. This might be the peak of Anderson and Blanchard’s WWE days, as their no nonsense style never quite fit into Vince’s vision, but this is an idea of how things could have been.
