21. WrestleMania XV: Steve Austin Vs The Rock

The first in The Rock and Stone Cold’s trilogy of WrestleMania clashes, there would be better things to come from this match - but when you put these two together, you’re all but guaranteed something pretty special. And when they’re placed on this somewhat disastrous card, they shine all the brighter.

By this time, 1999, we were deep into the Attitude Era, but Austin and Rocky seem to be the only two who have raised their game to the appropriate degree. They are simply on another level to everyone else on the card, brawling with intensity, selling the feud like no one else could.

The Rock is one of the most over men in industry history, but his entitled heel work is so great, and makes him an impossibly perfect foil for Stone Cold Steve Austin, here at the height of his feud with Vince McMahon and his whole Corporation. The two know they’re the best in the company, but they don’t rest for a moment on their laurels. They’d own this card running at half speed, but they go flat out.
