The Greatest Match From Every WWE WrestleMania

5. WrestleMania 31: Roman Reigns Vs Brock Lesnar Vs Seth Rollins

It may be the greatest swerve the WWE ever pulled off.

The advertised main event of Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar was one no one wanted to see. The former had been roundly rejected by fans after a clumsy push; the latter was a part time player with close to an open disdain for the business.

Then, midway through the match, Seth Rollins’ music hit. The Architect stormed the ring with the Money In The Bank Briefcase, hit Reigns with the curb stomp, and departed the Levi’s Stadium with the heavyweight championship aloft as the crowd popped like crazy.

The match, and the event, will be remembered for the finish, but even before Rollins crashed the party this was a seriously good bout. The storytelling was simple - Lesnar the destroyer, Reigns the never-say-die warrior - but the two big boys did a great job, Reigns convincingly battling back from Lesnar’s brutal onslaught.

Still, it’s the cash in that makes the match. It might be the best WWE booking from the 2010s, blooding a new star in Rollins while protecting Lesnar (who didn’t eat the pin). Reigns would go on to headline several ‘Manias, but none anywhere near this standard.
