The Greatest Match From Every WWE WrestleMania
6. WrestleMania XXX: Daniel Bryan Vs Triple H
WrestleMania XXX belongs to Daniel Bryan, and the lasting image is the unlikely headliner holding both World title belts aloft as the New Orleans crowd bellows its approval. The triple threat match closes the show perfectly, but the better match is Bryan’s opener against his tormentor, Triple H.
Echoing Bret Hart’s WrestleMania X heroics, Bryan pulls double duty, and while it lacks the emotion of the final victory, the singles match combines slick, physical wrestling with powerful storytelling.
Typical of an HHH clash, it goes pretty long, but the time is utilised well as the larger man grinds down Bryan and works his shoulder. The commentary team does a great job of selling Bryan, not that much smaller than Hunter, as the puny underdog who can’t possibly win - until he knees the WWE’s COO in the face to advance to the main event.
HHH has a somewhat earned reputation for burying younger talent, but he puts Bryan over masterfully here. The tension dissipates after this - there’s no way Bryan’s not leaving champion - but Bryan’s status as the ultimate outsider is well made thanks to a great clash to kick off a quality show.
