Maybe I'm putting The Islanders too high on here, but for a short while they were the central focus of the Heenan Family. After doing a whole lot of nothing in the company to begin with, Haku and Tama took off somewhat once Bobby Heenan took the reigns.

During a match with the Can-Am Connection (Rick Martel and Tom Zenk), Heenan came down to ostensibly scout both teams, but the whole thing was a ruse. The Islanders picked up the victory, and the Heenan Family grew once more.

The highest profile feud that the Islanders would have in WWF would see them oppose the British Bulldogs, Davey Boy Smith, and the Dynamite Kid. The Islanders actually dog-napped (eurgh) the Bulldogs' mascot Matilda, and the score was settled in a six-man at WrestleMania IV. The Bulldogs teamed with Koko B. Ware to take on the Islanders and Heenan, with the Brain pinning the Birdman for the win.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
