The Last Days Of Hulkamania

Hulk Hogan
WWE

It was on April 15th that we finally arrived at the titular last days of Hulkamania, with Hogan needing time off to shoot a movie and perhaps restore the frazzled sanity of an audience that had started to loathe him.

It's all there and mostly unfiltered on the Network - the boos outweigh the cheers in an era where John Cena/Roman Reigns reactions were unthinkable or deemed to spell doom. These were patient, receptive and typically complicit crowds saying that enough was enough.

'The Hulkster' seemingly agreed and, per the Wrestling Observer at the time, was due to take a beating from The Giant and The Horsemen to write him off.

Then, mysteriously, that didn't work for him, brother.

First, he booked his own disadvantage by battering Arn Anderson (again) and Kevin Sullivan (again) in a handicap match that gave him five minutes with any of the three (!) heel managers targeting him at the time. After making easy work of the klutz villains, he teased taking out Woman (!!) and Miss Elizabeth (!!!) before settling on decimating Jimmy Hart. World Heavyweight Champion The Giant arrived on the scene to make the save with his then-devastating chokeslam. Which Hogan pops up from, gives Giant his first ever slam, and then poses until the adverts.

On commentary, Bobby Heenan was disgusted with the state of it all. Just as he'd be the next time Hogan walked the aisle at Bash At The Beach. Hulkamania had eaten itself to such an absurd degree that 'The Weasel' was suddenly a pillar of consistency.
