6. Vs. 'The Miracle' Mike Bennett
The future Mr. Kanellis first crossed paths with the former Prince of Dark Matter in Northeast Wrestling on 26 August 2016, only to renew their rivalry -- and involve their wives in the action -- in October in Impact Wrestling. The matches were really nothing special, despite Cody's improvement in the ring. Bennett also seemed to have lost a step since his Kingdom days in ROH.
Cody bested Bennett on both occasions, and again in March of this year when he captured Bennett's Northeast Wrestling Heavyweight Championship.
Of course, by this time, winning belts was nothing new to Cody. He'd been the longest reigning WCPW Internet Champion, as well as the GFW NEX*GEN Champion, and other title opportunities loomed on the horizon.
