After stumbling somewhat after arriving in the World Wresting Federation, it took the Invasion angle for Chris Jericho to really establish himself in the company. It was at this time that he renewed his rivalry with The Rock, and the two years that had passed since their famous first meeting had allowed the audience to slowly take Jericho seriously.

It could be argued that Jericho was one of the few beneficiaries of the Invasion story, and it was Y2J who unified the WWF and WCW Heavyweight Championships on one fateful night in December. This incarnation of Jericho was somewhat toned down from the Y2J that had arrived in 1999, but defeating The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin in the same night
