Second only to his brother The Undertaker when it comes to length of tenure in World Wrestling Entertainment, Glenn Jacobs has had a storied career at the top to say the least. He was billed as Mike Unabomb in his first WWF match, but soon transitioned into a role as Isaac Yankem DDS, Jerry Lawler's private dentist. Not a great start.

Things didn't get better with a short run as Fake Diesel, although he did make it to the final four of the 1997 Royal Rumble with that persona. Before that year had ended Jacobs had returned as the demonic Kane, and the big man's career was made.

Initially a silent but violent (chortle chortle) monster, Kane has experienced huge character development in the almost 20 years that have passed since that fateful night in October 1997. If the character had stagnated in the heady times of the Attitude Era then it could be argued that Kane would be long-gone, but much like his storyline-bro Kane has been able to take a gimmick that could have been one dimensional and made it so much more.

19 years later, Kane shows no sign of stopping as he turns up on SmackDown week after week to chokeslam folk into oblivion. Here are the various faces of the Devil's Favourite Demon, from worst to best.

12. Embrace The Hate Kane

For years and years fans clamoured for Kane to put the mask back on and embrace the demonic persona that made him famous in the first place. When vignettes began airing in November 2011 many were thrilled that the veteran would seemingly be heading in a more focused direction after years of being 'veteran guy in upper-middle of the card'. I mean, a demon should be more than that, right?

Well, Kane put the mask back on and immediately found himself in a feud with John Cena, as the Devil's Favourite Demon valiantly tried to get Super Cena to 'embrace the hate'. How was he going to achieve this? Why by attacking Zack Ryder of course!

Yeah, Embrace the Hate heel Kane was a true groaner. After the Cena feud Kane moved onto a beef with Randy Orton before a summer World Championship program with CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. I would go so far as to say the only positives that came out of Embrace the Hate Kane were Zack Ryder in a wheelchair and Team Hell No.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
