8. Demon Kane

Which brings us to Kane in the current day. If this was a list of Kane's personas by how depressing they were, I dare say that Demon Kane would sit in first place. Not in an entirely negative way, but by virtue of the fact that in 2016 Kane isn't (and shouldn't be) relevant. He can come out now and then to deliver a chokeslam and pop a live crowd, but he needs to be far away from any stories of importance.

Kane seems to know his role in the modern age, and he is also as comfortable in his character as anyone you are likely to find in the glorious sport of professional wrestling. There's nothing wrong with him wearing his mask and shooting fire out of the ring from time to time.

Still, 2016 Kane is a little depressing in that nostalgic depression kind of way.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
