The new millennium saw a new Undertaker, as death was shown the door in favour of Kid Rock and a Harley Davidson.

Unfortunately, causing anyone to have to type the words ‘Kid Rock’ means an automatic downgrading, but the fact that Taker was able to return with a gimmick so far removed from that whole ‘satanic lord of darkness’ thing was testament to the man’s talent.

The church music, the fog, the Tombstone and the histrionics were gone, replaced by denim, bandanas, the Last Ride and Kid Rock. There we go again. It was during this era that 'Taker begun to show signs of vulnerability, selling a little bit more and generally becoming human as opposed to a dead human.

American Bad Ass Undertaker had its limitations, but in terms of dragging The Undertaker persona out of the cartoon era and into the more realistic tropes of the early 2000s it was vital.
