The Many Faces Of Triple H - Ranked From Worst To Best

11. The Authority

Triple H Stephanie McMahon

Triple H has been a part of sillier acts (as we’ll get to in a bit), but he hasn’t done anything as destructive to the entire wrestling business as his run in The Authority.

Raw went from two to three hours in the summer of 2012, while virtually everyone outside of the company realized that was a horrible move, they pressed onwards in hopes of getting an extra hour of programming fees every week. If it was going to work, the company needed fresh faces and new ideas. They went back 14 years in time to re-create Vince McMahon’s success as the evil authority figure, but this time with Triple H and Stephanie in the role.

Hunter originally turned heel by causing Daniel Bryan to lose the title he had just won against John Cena. It was a deflating feeling, as an incredibly organic movement was stomped on. Fans wouldn’t let up, though, and Bryan found himself back in the main events, still Hunter and Steph blasted him at every opportunity, trying to get fans to cheer the returning Batista instead.

While Hunter had some good matches with Bryan and The Shield, he was forced upon the audience too aggressively, fans simply weren’t interested watching the married couple recreate their act from 2000, and began leaving in droves.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
