At Payback 2016, The Miz successfully defended his Intercontinental Championship against Cesaro, but only after Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn caused a distraction by brawling around ringside. This led to a Fatal 4-Way match at Extreme Rules, where each of the three challengers had an equal chance of taking that title from Miz.

The bout could not have been built up better, and other than Roman Reigns vs. AJ Styles II, it was undoubtedly the most anticipated match at the event. Sure enough, they didn't disappoint by going all out contesting one of the best Fatal 4-Way matchups in recent memory. There never seemed to be a dull moment with fans in the audience on the edge of their seats the entire time.

While Miz is by no means as skilled as of a wrestler as the aforementioned athletes, he without a shadow of a doubt belonged on the same stage as these men on this particular night, willing to do anything it took to keep that belt around his waist.

His title reign was in jeopardy at various points, but due to Owens and Zayn rekindling their own rivalry on the outside of the ring and brawling up the ramp, Miz was able to capitalize and pin Cesaro to ensure the title remained in his possession.

With four of the matches on this list happening in 2016 alone, it anyone's guess what the future holds for The Miz and what other classics he could contest in the years ahead.
