The Miz's 10 Best WWE Matches
The Miz has established himself as "The Awesome One" with these ten memorable matchups.
The Miz has been a part of the WWE system for nearly a dozen years, having debuted as a contestant on the fourth season of Tough Enough, though it wasn't until mid-2006 he officially arrived on the main roster as a member of the SmackDown brand.
In those ten years with the company, he wasn't truly recognized as being a phenomenal performer until earlier this year when he was drafted back to the blue brand over the summer as a result of the reinstated Brand Extension. Since then, through his amazing mic work and memorable matches with Dolph Ziggler, he has done an outstanding job of reinventing himself and restoring prestige to the Intercontinental Championship.
But let the record show that The Awesome One didn't become a standout star overnight; in fact, he has always possessed the skills necessary to be as brilliant as he is right now. Far too often, some of the great work he did in the first five or so years of his career tends to be forgotten, which included a strong string of matches with a variety of opponents.
Granted, he is no Shawn Michaels in the ring, but he is capable of producing highly entertaining matches with the proper opponent. As the self-proclaimed Hollywood A-lister celebrates ten years as a certified WWE Superstar, it's only appropriate to look back at Miz's most awesome matches.
10. The Miz Vs. Kofi Kingston - Main Event (Oct 17, 2012)
When Main Event debuted in October 2012, it was apparent WWE wanted to make the program as big of a deal as possible by establishing that anything could happen. Thus, it wasn't long before they scheduled an Intercontinental Championship match for the program's third episode on Oct. 17 between The Miz and Kofi Kingston.
Kingston earned his shot at the strap by beating Miz on an episode of Raw one week prior, which was far from their first encounter. In fact, it was almost exactly three years earlier that Miz knocked off Kingston to win his premiere United States Championship, so they already had excellent in-ring chemistry together.
To the surprise of no one, they ripped it up in their championship clash and the pre- and post-match interviews from both men definitely made it more meaningful. Following a fantastic back-and-forth bout, Kingston hit Miz with a swift Trouble in Paradise for the three count and his fourth Intercontinental Championship.
Miz and Kingston have not once produced a bad bout in their many matches against each other, but this undoubtedly ranks above the rest as the best match they have ever had. And the title change was merely the icing on the cake.
