The Rock: Every Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

23. The Mummy Returns (2001)

The Mummy Returns Dwayne Johnson
Universal

The Mummy Returns was Johnson's first ever movie role, and while it was an unquestionable stepping stone which helped launch him to the success he enjoys today, it's also infamous for its laughably hideous CGI rendering of Johnson as the Scorpion King.

The movie as a whole is a cheeseball follow-up to the much-loved original, and though it charms to a point thanks to the continued chemistry between Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, it's yet more proof that a bigger sequel isn't always better.

The action relies more on digital mayhem than the first movie (or bad, digital mayhem, at least), and it was hard to be especially hyped about The Scorpion King after sitting through that horrendous, sub-PS2 render, which even looked terrible at the time of the film's release.
