The Rock: Every Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
17. Walking Tall (2004)
A remake of the classic 1973 action film of the same name, Walking Tall is a ready-made star vehicle for Johnson, in which he plays a soldier returning home from war to find his hometown rife with crime. According to this movie, all you need in order to clean up the streets is a giant block of wood.
Though this is an incredibly simplistic action thriller with nothing even approaching nuance, it's still a fun, breezy ride at just 86 minutes in length, with Johnson kicking a** and taking names as you'd expect.
Johnny Knoxville is also surprisingly good here as Johnson's sidekick. Not a classic, but no-nonsense genre fun for sure.
