There was no doubt that the year would belong to Austin but there was a new generation of stars coming through, with the likes of Triple H, Ken Shamrock and The Rock spearheading a group of wrestlers with Attitude. As the 1998 Royal Rumble match came towards its conclusion, Rock used his cunning to eliminate his Nation of Domination teammates, leaving it down to just him and Austin, although, as mentioned before, everyone knew the outcome already. Sure enough Austin won, but it proved that Rock was next in line. You could already see a wonderful rivalry brewing between the pair and Royal Rumble 1998 showed great things were expected from the Great One.
