The Rock: His 10 Best WWE Moments

8. €˜2+2? Thomas Jefferson Sucka€™

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9G3_Kou3nbI The Rock had returned to the WWF following a brief spell away filming and he found himself suddenly thrown into the rivalry between Vince€™s WWF and Shane and Stephanie€™s €˜Alliance€™. After briefly making both sides anxious over who he would join, he made his allegiance clear by joining the elder McMahon. While Austin and Angle were putting on some magnificent performances over the WWE Championship, The Rock was left to ruin Booker T€™s reputation. As they prepared to battle at Summerslam, where the Great One would win his first WCW Championship, Rock took some time out to verbally batter Booker. This has always been the problem with The Rock€™s promos. He is that good, and the crowd enjoys them so much, that the butt of the joke can sometimes be severely damaged by a single promo. Sting has previously spoken before about witnessing this promo and it supporting his decision not to join WWF. Booker was made to look like a joke, not because The Rock had intentionally gone out to ruin his credibility, but because his promos were just that powerful. The truth, and everyone who watched the Alliance storylines knows it, is that the wrestlers who came from WCW and ECW for that storyline were not as popular as the WWF guys. Booker T was a top mid-card guy who had done well during the final years of WCW, but how could he ever compete against one of the most popular wrestlers ever? It was a hilarious promo but it was a shame that it summed up why the Alliance storyline was conducted so poorly.
