The Rock: His 10 Best WWE Moments

2. Legend vs. Icon

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fp6gW2MIhb0 This match may not be the best ever €“ a Hulk Hogan match is rarely regarded as good €“ but few bouts have ever created such an atmosphere. It was no surprise that the crowd was dead by the Chris Jericho vs. Triple H match €“ how were they going to follow up such a highly-anticipated encounter? There had been talk of a match between Austin and Hogan when the NWO turned up at No Way Out, but I truly believe The Rock was the best option for Hogan. Austin was a more aggressive performer with a brawler style and I don€™t think that would have mixed well with Hogan€™s small repertoire of moves. Rock was always more of an entertaining performer than Austin €“ more comfortable and confident on the microphone and more dramatic in his selling €“ and that worked better off the eighties€™ star, especially when it came time for Hogan€™s infamous comeback. The crowd was on edge for this encounter. It was absolutely electric and although there have been many better matches, this is the one match I really wished I could have been in the crowd for. When Hogan and Rock went face-to-face before the bell-rang, looking around at the pro-Hulk crowd, it was one of those moments that automatically goes down in wrestling history.
