The Rock vs. Kurt Angle vs. The Undertaker. What a line up! By the summer of 2002 the WWE roster was so incredibly stacked that getting all of the top stars onto pay-per-view cards was a struggle. Triple threat matches were aplenty, and the main event of Vengeance saw three of the greatest go at it with Taker’s Undisputed WWE Championship on the line.

A match full of counters, foreign objects, bloody and near falls, the triple threat trope was fairly tired at this point but these three managed to create enough excitement to enthral even the most jaded viewer. Angle was fantastic once again, with lightning quick counters and a previous submission victory over The Undertaker looming large.

Inevitably the match would be won by the slightest of margins, and after Angle hit Taker with an Angle Slam Rock was able to capitalise with a Rock Bottom and his 9th world championship. It would be his last for over a decade.
