One year after losing the title to Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania XV The Rock would reclaim the belt, becoming champion for the fourth time and for the first time beating someone other than Mick Foley for it. That man was Triple H, who by now had been elevated to the position of number one heel in the company.

The two had been battling for years at this point, and the chemistry between them is clear as day. Those wondering why people complain about the McMahons still being a factor in 2016 however need only go back and watch shows from this era, as practically every main event involved Vince and Shane getting involved in some way or another.

This is no different, the two doing all they can to stop Triple H losing the title just five months after the man kidnapped Stephanie and married her. Rock’s odds aren’t helped by Shane being positioned as special referee, an issue he removes by Rock Bottoming both Hunter and Shane through a table on the outside. The stooges keep coming however, and it takes the famous breaking glass and a returning Stone Cold Steve Austin wielding a chair to even the odds.

The recently fired Earl Hebner counts the pinfall, and The Rock was champion again.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
