The Shield Raw Reunion: Did WWE Waste A Money Angle?

Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns thrown together, with barely any build.

The Shield reunited in the main event of Monday Night Raw, in a match that barely even had any promotion on the actual show. Although the announcers were careful to point out that the three men weren't bonded together as The Shield, it was in essence a Shield reunion. It has caused some debate, with some fans deriding WWE for throwing away what should have been a money angle. You don't just throw a group like The Shield back together on free TV, you should build it for months and have the big match on a special. A reunion should have been WrestleMania worthy. Seeing Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns tagging together, it should have been a huge deal. Instead it was just put together an hour from Raw's ending, after Shawn Michaels suggested Rollins should team with Reigns and Ambrose. You could maybe understand if WWE were trying to pop a rating for the main event, but it was only advertised an hour out, so it had little chance of making an impact. One of WWE's greatest ever groups, ended up back together on what felt like a whim. The crowd chanted "This Is Awesome", but it was a moment that really belonged on a bigger occasion. The match itself was average. Rollins played heel, but the team did function for small doses against Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan and Braun Strowman. Eventually, Rollins walked out, and the bout ended in a DQ after Ambrose smashed Strowman with a kendo stick at the fourteen minute mark. What were your thoughts on The Shield reunion? Good idea, or ultimately devaluing of a future reunion?
