If Kurt Angle may have had the most impressive rookie year in the history of the WWF, Brock Lesnar had the most impressive since WWE got the "F-out". Debuting on the Raw following WrestleMania X8, Brock dismantled everyone placed before him for two months, before the preliminary matches for the 2002 King of the Ring began. In the first match of the tournament, Brock was scheduled to face- and defeat- "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, in an unannounced TV show with no build: this is the match that cause Austin to leave WWE for several months. Instead of Austin, Brock defeated Bubba Ray Dudley, and would go on to make short work of Booker T the following week on Raw, and Test in the semi-final on the pay-per-view, before facing Intercontinental Champion Rob Van Dam in the final. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRqpWdA7Eqg In the quickest King of the Ring final since Steve Austin defeated an injured Jake "The Snake" Roberts in 4:30 at the 1996 King of the Ring, Lesnar defeated The Whole F'n Show in just over five minutes to win the tournament. The 2002 King of the Ring tournament had an extra prize with it: a WWE Undisputed World Championship match at SummerSlam 2002. With his win, Lesnar was set to face The Rock for the Championship. Lesnar made the most of this opportunity, defeating The Rock and in the process becoming the youngest WWE World Champion in history.
