4. The Undertaker vs. Kurt Angle (No Way Out 2006)
Kurt Angle has talked in various interviews about how close he came to facing off against the Undertaker at WrestleMania in 2006. For whatever reason, the match instead took place at No Way Out, the month before the Grandaddy of Them All. Undertaker had returned as The Deadman in 2004 and in his first year back wasn't having thrilling matches. He was competing against Kane, JBL and others in mediocre bouts. In 2005, he'd go on to have a great program with Randy Orton that proved the veteran could still go, so in February 2006 when he challenged Kurt Angle for the World Heavyweight Championship there was an anticipation for a classic. This was around the time when Taker started adopting a more submission based offence rather than just sitting up from the dead and doing a chokeslam and a tombstone. His bout with the Olympic Gold Medalist was outstanding and to this day is fondly remembered as one of the best PPV main events of the Ruthless Aggression era. In a tremendous closing sequence, Angle had the ankle lock applied until Taker countered into a triangle choke which seemed to be on course to win him the World title until Kurt reversed it into a surprise roll up to retain. If you have a spare twenty minutes, I cannot recommend enough that you go to the WWE Network and watch this brilliant match.
