The Undertaker’s 10 Best WWE SmackDown Matches

3. Vs. Batista - SmackDown (11 May 2007)

The Undertaker's feud with Batista over the World Heavyweight Championship is undoubtedly one of the greatest in SmackDown history, so it was only fitting that they conclude their original trilogy of matches with a battle on the blue brand itself - and that battle took place inside a Steel Cage.

The cage added a different feel to the match and helped set this one apart from the rest. Given the enclosed environment, the action started off rather slow, with the cage not coming into play at all. However, it was intricately well-paced, leading up to a grand finale that would see The Undertaker getting busted open. The final act was violent, vicious and everything you would expect from these two SmackDown titans.

The draw finish may have seemed like a letdown at the time but, in hindsight, it was the perfect way to temporarily end the feud - letting Undertaker go out as a fighting champion while allowing Batista to continue on as a viable challenger for the next champion, Edge ('Taker dropped the title to the 'Rated-R Superstar' after the match due to a bicep injury).

All in all, this was probably the least-best of their near-perfect trilogy, but it was definitely of a much higher standard than any main event you'd see on network television (then or now), and it was undoubtedly a worthy conclusion to their epic rivalry... you know, until they renewed it later that year.
