The Undertaker's 10 Greatest Feuds Of His WWE Career
2. Vs. CM Punk
By this point, The Undertaker and The Streak had pretty much become one in the same. Appearances by the Lord of Darkness were few and far between, and most of the time, they related to WrestleMania and defending The Streak. Enter the Dead Man's next opponent: "The Best in the World," CM Punk. Like others before him, this was not his first time the two would meet in the ring, but it would be their first WrestleMania match together. People had every reason to expect a good if not great match between the Straight Edge Superstar and Big Evil, but then the unthinkable happened. William "Paul Bearer" Moody passed away on March 5, 2013, and though the event was sad, the timing could not have been better from an storyline standpoint. As fans and wrestlers alike mourned Undertaker's fallen friend, CM Punk would step up as a heel and effectively desecrate Paul Bearer's memory and "remains" by stealing the urn representing him and using it against the Undertaker. He even went so far as to spread the ashes around, among other disrespectful actions. As you can imagine, the storyline shifted from "can CM Punk beat The Streak?" to "will Undertaker get his revenge?" It was no longer about competition for the Lord of Darkness; now it was personal. The Dead Man was, of course, victorious and reclaimed the urn from Punk.
